Incase you are using ubuntu and you have trouble in writing files to your NTFS drive.. you must give ntfs-3g a shot.. its easy to install and works in most cases..
All you need to do is open your ubuntu terminal and type:

sudo apt-get install ntfs-3g

Once you have successfully installed ntfs-3g go to Applications->System tools and click on "NTFS Configuration Tool" ..Make sure "Enable write support for internal/external device" is checked..Check Internal if its an internal SATA/IDE drive..Check External if its a usb external drive..Once you are done with that you may have to reboot.. and then you should be able to write files to your NTFS drive!!
