Many a times incase we have lost connectivity or messed up with the settings of the modem or lost the admin password etc we require to reset our modem or router. This will bring back the modem to its original settings so that it can be accessible again.Even in cases where the router has been hacked wherein the admin password has been changed remotely(most likely case). So in such cases resetting the modem is the only way. This brings it back to its original factory settings its basically like formatting or reinstalling the OS of a pc.Once you reset your modem you can configure it again and get back connectivity. So this reset option is really a life saver. So here's how you do it.
Different router's have different ways to reset. The reset option will mostly be in the following two forms

1)Reset hole

In this case a match stick or anything similar to this which can fit into the hole must be used and you should place the match stick inside the hole and press it in there for approximately 20-30 seconds when the modem/router is switched on.You will be able to notice the resetting of the modem by observing the lights in the modem. The power LED would normally switch off and switch on for like 2-3 seconds..Once you have observed that you have successfully resetted your modem. So the modem will be back to its default settings with the usual admin/admin as username/password etc..

2)Reset Button

I think this is quite simple. Its in the form of a button, so all you need to do is press the button for again like 20-30 seconds and as mentioned above , you will be able to notice whether the modem has been successfully reset or not by observing the Power LED.
