Well many people have had this problem, so i thought i'll post this here.A typical network consists of a normal ADSL router with a wifi router clubbed to it.So basically the ADSL router does the dialing and connecting part and the wifi router gives the internet access to all other pcs either through wired or wireless. So basically at this time, your wifi router acts like a wifi hub.
So when you connect your IPTV STB to one of the LAN ports of your wifi router you find that your IPTV works flawlessly but your wifi network goes down and you dont even see the network. Now this is a common issue faced by many people trying to have a similar setup, which typically is a common and most used setup.
Well the solution i think is apt for this case is getting a switch.Well as soon as i mention switch i'm sure many would think that a switch is pretty expensive and is not worth it.But in your situation you dont need a HIGH END SWITCH, i mean you do get ENTRY LEVEL SWITCHES which are not that INTELLIGENT for like say 400Rs.These are basically 5 port switches which basically work like a hub.Like for example i bought this switch from a company called TP-LINK and it works pretty fine, i've been having this since a few years now.
Adding this switch to your network is simple. All you need to do is connect one LAN cable from your ADSL router to the switch and connect another LAN cable from the switch to your IPTV STB and another LAN cable from your switch to your wifi router.Thats it you should have all your problems solved with this kind of setup
