This tutorial should help you increase your CD/DVD burning speed considerably.By enabling DMA you not only increase your cd/dvd burning speed but it also ensures that it utilizes less CPU power when burning.This can make burning cd/dvd a lot more faster and hence reduces burning time.So here's how you do it :

Step 1 : Right Click on My Computer and Click On Manage

Step 2 : Then Select Device Manager

Step 3 : Then Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
Step 4 : Now select the channel in which the CD/DVD drive is present.This depends on how you have connected your HDD and CD/DVD drives . In most cases it would be present in the Secondary IDE channel.In case its present in the Primary IDE channel then select that
Step 5 : Right click on the correct IDE channel and click on Properties

Step 6 : Now go to the "Advanced Settings" tab and then Set the Transfer Mode to "DMA If Available".Here again you have to choose Device 0 or Device 1 depending on how or where the cd/dvd drive is connected in your computer.You can try both Device 0 and Device 1 if you are not sure.

Step 7 : Click on OK and save all windows
Step 8 : Reboot your PC.Your cd/dvd drive should work much faster and consume much less CPU power
