How To Use Your Digital Camera As A Webcam

Most of us have digital cameras with us but not all of us have webcams , maybe because we dont use webcams that much.But there could be times when we need to video chat and in such cases webcams is a must.Now instead of wasting money in buying a webcam , all you gotta do is use your digital camera as your webcam using a few softwares.Now this is pretty simple to do and very effective.There are a lot of advantages in doing this.Firstly , the cost factor, Absolutely no money required for this, completely FREE as you dont need to buy a webcam.Secondly, video clarity would be a lot better, as digital cameras are way better than webcams.Now here's how you go about doing this :
For this to work, you need the following :

1)Camera Software - Now this software comes with almost every digital camera.For example Canon cameras have a software called remote shooting . This software is used to get the video from the digital camera onto your computer screen

2)Camtasia Studio - This is Screen Recording Software which basically records a part of your screen and streams it as a webcam.So basically camtasia is used to create a virtual webcam which gets the video from your camera software.

So what you do is select "Record A Part Of Your Screen" option in camtasia and you would get a box, place that box onto the camera software window which is getting the camera video.Then open your messenger and it should detect a webcam which would show your digital camera video.Here are a few screenshots to help you Out

This is the camera software. Remote shooting is the software for Canon Cameras.

In your Camtasia window, Select "Start a new project by recording the screen"

Then select "Region of the screen" and place the box you find on the remote shooting window found in the first screenshot

Under Tool Options , go to Live tab and Check "Enable Live Output"

Now open your messenger and open the webcam option and it should work!!!
