This has been on the news for a while and it has indeed cause a major problem for many users in india .Almost every news channel and newspaper has written about this . Some users may not experience much of a problem , but there are certain places where there have been major downtimes . Its mostly slow internet speed - browsing and downloading. The FLAG FEA, SMW4, and SMW3 lines, near the Alexandria cable station in Egypt, have all been cut. It may take days for them to fix it . As fixing an undersea cable is no childs play . THis can take quite a while and is infact causing a lot of problems for people in Asia especially India.
ISP's like Reliance and Bharti Airtel are the most affected . The cause of the break is as yet unknown, although some seismic activity was reported near Malta shortly before the cut was detected. It is thought that 65% of traffic to India was down, while services to Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Taiwan and Pakistan have also been severely affected. Telephone providers, such as Portugal Telecom and Reliance have said that they've been rerouting traffic to other parts of their network to avoid issues. But this rerouting has caused network congestion, which means slower Internet connections and some dropped phone calls.
So it could take quite a while for this to get sorted out . So incase you are in india or any other part in asia which could be affected dont think its a problem with your ISP or your pc . Its mostly due to this cable cut . So lets just hope things get alright soon.
I too face a little lag in the internet speed , be it download or browsing . I guess almost everyone in India would notice some difference . Here are a few screenshots to show you the effects of this :
