Almost all new cell phones today support wireless networks which means that you could connect your cell phone to a wireless network and browser the internet just like how you would do it on your pc or laptop . The advantage is the speed and now a days you have wifi networks all around and having this kind of feature is really helpful. Now when it come to your house , incase you need to connect your cell phone or iTouch to your wireless router so that you can browser the internet on that device at home , here's what you should do :
In most cases it should work on the spot , incase it doesnt here are a few settings which you need to ensure that you have selected in your wifi router.

1)ENSURE THAT YOUR ROUTER IS IN PPPoE MODE
This is very important as you need your router to do the dialing to get you connected to the internet. If your internet works on your pc as soon as you switch on your modem , then you are already in pppoe mode . If you use a dialer in windows xp or you use pppoeconf in linux , it means that you are in bridged mode . In that case you need to configure your router in PPPoE mode . CLICK HERE to view the tutorial on how to setup your router in PPPoE mode . Remember the VPI/VCI values will be different for your ISP , you may need to contact your ISP for that.

2)ENSURE THAT DHCP IS ENABLED
This again is pretty important , although certain devices have the ability to manually insert static ips , its always better to have DHCP enabled in your router so that your cell phone or iTouch would get an ip address from your wireless router.CLICK HERE to view a tutorial on how to enable DHCP in your router

3)ENSURE THAT YOUR WIRELESS NETWORK IS PROTECTED
This is NOT a requirement for the above setup to work but it is always recommended to protect your wireless network using a WEP/WPA(Preferred) key . CLICK HERE to view a small tutorial on that.

So if you have all the above configured correctly , you shouldn't have any problems connecting your cell phone or iTouch or any other similar device to your wireless network.
