How To Find Out The IP Address Of Your Messenger Contact through Pidgin

Pidgin has this feature which would help you find out the ip address of your buddy . All you need to do is initiate a chat with him . Pidgin would give you the external ip address of your buddy , although sometimes in certain cases it may give you only the internal ip address . It depends on your buddy's network setup . So here's how you find out the ip address of any contact through Pidgin :



Step 1 : In pidgin , initiate a chat with your buddy
Step 2 : Wait for a while , maybe a few minutes as the ip address would take a while to get listed .
Step 3 : Then right click on your buddy's name and click on Get Info
Step 4 : You will see a page similar to this , with the ip address shown

I guess it only works with the Linux/Ubuntu version of the Pidgin, been using the Pidgin tool on xp but i haven't seen any of such values as of now ...

Possible , never tried it on windows.. it also only works after you initiate a conversation with the person.

not fake just doesnt work for all network clients anymore
