I guess this was one market which google was yet to step into and now they have made it official that they are indeed going to launch their own Operating System . I have really high expectations from this OS primarily because its GOOGLE'S OS . I do hope that it would make an impact especially since its open source and FREE .

Google OS would i guess be more like a WEB OS . I guess Google OS would be similar to that , i dont think it would be a full fledged operating system like windows . They would concentrate on storing and retrieving information and data on the internet . This is what i think they're aiming at . So it would be a totally different experience . Their first version would be for netbooks so they plan to make it a light Operating System which aims at providing instant internet access which therefore means very quick boot up times and a very simple and easy to use GUI.

Another important aspect of this OS is that they plan to make it READY TO USE , no need to worry about softwares to install or drivers to install . You can use your machine as soon as you install it.Since its linux based i'm sure the support will be great even for applications.Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS.

I guess Google being such a popular brand can provide some great competition to Microsoft who currently leads in the market share of Operatins System. So lets hope for the best and wait patiently until middle of next year for the release :)

Every year people proclaim "this is the year of linux desktop" - unfortunately it never pans out and never will until a large company such as Google puts out an OS based on Linux. Personally, I don't see why Linux people even think they can take an OS that has no major support (by support I mainly mean marketing/sales support) and compete with a company such as Microsoft or Apple. Google though is a game changer - whether you are a MS, Apple or Linux fanboy, this is good news because competition is good for consumers. Now MS will not get away with putting out crap like Vista if people have a real choice in OS's.
