I Hope you have heard about VPN.VPN is basically virtual private networking. Its like you can make a computer on the internet part of your Local Area Network.Say for example you friend lives far away from your house and you have a LAN with loads of files and printers which you share inside your network i.e. with pcs in your home. Now with VPN you can allow your friend to connect to your network at home as if his computer was in your own house. That means he can share files and folders normally just like how you share through LAN.. Even printers can be shared.Whats more, even Multiplayer games can be played well.Loads of other advantages if you are using VPN.
One such VPN tool which is easy to use and FREE of cost is Hamachi. Its pretty easy to setup. All you do is download hamachi on your pc and setup an account with a userid and stuff. Then do the same on your friend's pc or any other pc connected to the internet. Then Create A Network with a password .Then go to your friend's pc and join the network you have created earlier.Thats it.You now have configured VPN .Its quite simple.
To download Hamachi go HERE
Also please read THIS GUIDE for more details. It gives detailed instructions on how to create a network and join a network etc.

Hi Prashanth - I hopped over to your blog from the India Broadband Forum.
Its pretty clear from your blog as well as your posts on IBF that you're very tech-savvy :D
I needed a spot of help with every n00b's nightmare : port-forwarding.

a)I have the same old UT300R2U from BSNL with the new BSNL firmware (so just4kix's solution of using the 'virtual server' option isnt available for me)
b)Can you please explain the "NAT/DMZ" method ?
c)Can you please explain how to switch to bridge connection from PPoE ?
d)What are the comparative degrees security between the 2 options i.e. which is more secure ?

Thanks a ton!

Hey Sameer,
It would be difficult for me to explain the whole procedure here(in the comments section).I'll try to setup a tutorial on NAT-DMZ and converting of ppoe to bridged mode as soon as possible.
You can also PM me through IBF and i'll give you some quick steps to follow.
