Hey guys..Hope you doing good!!Just yesterday somebody had requested me to write a tutorial on how to port forward in UT300R2U modem. In this modem port forwarding is a bit different. There is no VIRTUAL SERVER option. So you cannot forward ports like that.Instead there is something called NAT-DMZ . In NAT-DMZ all you do is enter the ip address of the computer where the port has to be opened and your done. Its that simple.I'll give you step by step instructions on how to do it.So here goes:

Step 1:Login to your router's menu by going to http://192.168.1.1 and enter admin as username and password

Step 2:You will see a page similar to this

Step 3:Now Go to Advanced Setup->NAT->DMZ-HOST ,you will find a page like this.

Step 4:This is where you will need to enter your computer's ip address
Step 5:To find out your ip address
In Windows go to the command prompt(Start->Run and type cmd) then type ipconfig and you should find your ip address mentioned there .It normally is under LOCAL AREA CONNECTION. it should be of the form 192.168.1.x .Sometimes 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.1.100 depends..
In Linux go to the Terminal(Application->Accessories->Terminal) and type ifconfig and you should find your ip address there. Here by default it normally will be under eth0. and in the same form as mentioned above..
Step 6:Then enter your ip address and click on SAVE/APPLY and reboot your modem.
Step 7:Thats it port forwarding is done in your modem.

Note:All ports will be forwarded to your computer in this case.Typically it would be your windows firewall which will be blocking them.So open ports in the windows firewall accordingly.CLICK HERE if you want to know how to open ports in windows firewall.

hello vaivhav,
Use this online port scanner and see if it says whether port 17999 is open or not.. http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scanner/
.. ensure that you have opened port 17999 in your firewall as well..

but how safe is this??? would doing it mean that we will be listening all the ports and forwarding all of them too

Anonymous said... @ February 15, 2009 at 8:22 AM

Thats right.. you would need a strong 3rd party firewall like zonealarm to protect yourself!!

How can i block torrents ports in my modem. i am using Huawei SmartAX MT880. Is it possible to open only one port for torrent to connect?
Please help

Prash Babu said... @ August 18, 2009 at 8:42 AM

block by just not opening any ports.. yes only 1 port is required for torrents .. check this link http://www.prash-babu.com/2008/05/portforwarding-through-virtual-server.html

Hi Sir.
i have HUAWEI SmartAX MT880 ADSL Modem with BSNL Connection. i want to block more than 30 websites through the Modem. it has that option but it is not inoff for me, it can be block only 10 sites. so is there is any way to extend the cpacity of that option...

Prash Babu said... @ December 26, 2009 at 8:41 PM

Well i dont think that option is tweak-able in the modem . But you can use any one of the following 2 methods
1) http://www.ehow.com/how_4556123_bad-web-sites-using-opendns.html
2) http://www.overclock.net/faqs/44143-how-use-hosts-file-block-websites.html

192.168.1.1 in address bar doesn't list out all options of a router

if you need to see al options of a router use this
address

192.168.1.1/main.html

also anyone can change default router configuration(192.168.1.1) to another

i did it many times
