Hey guys..Hope you doing good!!Just yesterday somebody had requested me to write a tutorial on how to port forward in UT300R2U modem. In this modem port forwarding is a bit different. There is no VIRTUAL SERVER option. So you cannot forward ports like that.Instead there is something called NAT-DMZ . In NAT-DMZ all you do is enter the ip address of the computer where the port has to be opened and your done. Its that simple.I'll give you step by step instructions on how to do it.So here goes:
Step 1:Login to your router's menu by going to http://192.168.1.1 and enter admin as username and password
Step 2:You will see a page similar to this
Step 3:Now Go to Advanced Setup->NAT->DMZ-HOST ,you will find a page like this.
Step 4:This is where you will need to enter your computer's ip address
Step 5:To find out your ip address
In Windows go to the command prompt(Start->Run and type cmd) then type ipconfig and you should find your ip address mentioned there .It normally is under LOCAL AREA CONNECTION. it should be of the form 192.168.1.x .Sometimes 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.1.100 depends..
In Linux go to the Terminal(Application->Accessories->Terminal) and type ifconfig and you should find your ip address there. Here by default it normally will be under eth0. and in the same form as mentioned above..
Step 6:Then enter your ip address and click on SAVE/APPLY and reboot your modem.
Step 7:Thats it port forwarding is done in your modem.
Note:All ports will be forwarded to your computer in this case.Typically it would be your windows firewall which will be blocking them.So open ports in the windows firewall accordingly.CLICK HERE if you want to know how to open ports in windows firewall.

Hi Vinay here.
I liked ur article and suggestions very much. But, i am unable to follow. I have a little problem. I am using a BSNL Broadband Connection Modem Siemens make with WIFI. My laptop and mobile both have WIFI facilities. Whereas i can connect to the internet via WIFI only through my LAPTOP and cannot connect through my mobile. Is there any specific progamming for that. I am using Nokia E61i model. Kindly help. Thanks in advance. My mail id vinay_bgh@rediffmail.com.
I followed the instructions you have provided but the sad part is that i am still not able to forward by ports. I have even made my id address static but it doesnt helps. My computer is part of a home based LAN.
Port 17999 seems to be open but utorrent doesnt seem to react to it. please help.....very urgent.
hello vaivhav,
Use this online port scanner and see if it says whether port 17999 is open or not.. http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scanner/
.. ensure that you have opened port 17999 in your firewall as well..
i am not getting that NAT thing in my advanced options ..please tell me what to do
hello sumeet,
incase you dont see NAT -DMZ .. then you should see virtual server .. this tutorial should help http://prash-babu.blogspot.com/2008/05/portforwarding-through-virtual-server.html
but how safe is this??? would doing it mean that we will be listening all the ports and forwarding all of them too
Thats right.. you would need a strong 3rd party firewall like zonealarm to protect yourself!!
Do i need to specify the pppoe generated Ip address or the default gateway ip address in the NATA-DMZ..?
thanks..It works
thanks . . . .its working
Thanks dude very much...its working...
thankyou... it helped
Glad it helped!!

Hi Sir.
i have HUAWEI SmartAX MT880 ADSL Modem with BSNL Connection. i want to block more than 30 websites through the Modem. it has that option but it is not inoff for me, it can be block only 10 sites. so is there is any way to extend the cpacity of that option...
Well i dont think that option is tweak-able in the modem . But you can use any one of the following 2 methods
1) http://www.ehow.com/how_4556123_bad-web-sites-using-opendns.html
2) http://www.overclock.net/faqs/44143-how-use-hosts-file-block-websites.html
I have a UT300R2U adsl modem but in the router settings i dont see a virtual server or in the advanced settings i dont find NAT Can you help me on this
