Google Talk login problem "Read Error" in pidgin

In case anyone is having trouble logging on to Google Talk and who are
getting an error like "Read Error" . You can try fixing the problem by making the following modifications in the "Add/Edit Accounts" section

Basic:

Protocol: XMPP/Google Talk
screenname: "your username"
Domain: gmail.com
Resource: Home
Password: ********

Under Advanced tab:

XMPP options
Force old (port 5223) SSL: checked
Allow plaintext auth over unencrypted streams: unchecked
Connect port: 443
Connect server: talk.google.com

Proxy options:
Use GNOME Proxy settings:
