How to change Default Password In your modem or router

I have mentioned earlier in my previous posts on how important it is to change your default router password from admin or password to something else.This is purely a security measure and is indeed a very important one cause if people get access to your router , they get access to your network and inturn to your computers.they can open ports too..So here's how you do it.I will show you how to do it in a few modems.Its the same procedure for all modems.You should find a password tab or a accounts tab in your router options.Thats where you change your password..

UT300R2U

Step 1:Login to your router http://192.168.1.1 and enter username and password as admin


Step 2:Go to Management->Access Control->Passwords
Step 3:Select admin as username

Step 4:Old password is admin. enter your new password in the new password field.I think its pretty straight forward.
Step 5:Click on Save/Apply and reboot your modem

Netgear
Step 1:login to your router http://192.168.0.1 and enter username and password as admin


Step 2:Go to Maintenance->Set Password

Step 3:Old password is admin. enter your new password in the new password field.I think its pretty straight forward.
Step 4:Click on Apply and reboot your modem

Huawei SmartAX

Step 1:login to your router http://192.168.1.1 and enter username and password as admin

Step 2:Go to Tools->administrator Settings .Username is admin

Step 3:Enter your new password in the new password field.I think its pretty straight forward.
Step 4:Click on Apply and reboot your modem

Dlink

Step 1:Login to your router http://192.168.0.1 and enter username and password as admin

Step 2:Go to Tools->Admin

Step 3:Under Administrator.enter your new password in the new password field.I think its pretty straight forward.
Step 4:Click on Apply and reboot your modem

If you notice the steps for various routers.They are quite similar , so even if your modem is not listed here.. basic steps are logging in to your router finding out the administration section and changing your password
