Simple solution that just works!!Thats right, its pretty much possible to have a copy of your gmail mail onto your airtel phone. And its also FREE!!.I have tried to use it with vodafone(Hutch) but it didnt work well.As the vodafone email 2 sms feature wasn't working.
For airtel users, it is possible to send an sms to your mobile by simply sending an email to xxxx@airtelkk.com , where xxxxx is your airtel mobile no.The airtelkk.com is only for karnataka airtel users, kk=karnataka, for andhra pradesh it is airtelap.com . The full list is AVAILABLE HERE, choose the appropriate email address format .I havent tried the other airtel ids, but i can confirm that airtelkk.com works. So once i have the address ready which is xxxxx@airtelkk.com in my case , all i have to do is enter it into my gmail settings. Here's how you do it :
Step 1 : Login to your Gmail account and click on "Settings " on the top right hand corner
Step 2 : Then Click on "Forwarding And POP/IMAP"
Step 3 : Under Forwarding Select Forward A copy of my incoming mail and enter the airtel id as the email address which is xxxxxx@airtelkk.com in my case where xxxxxx is the airtel mobile no.
Step 4 : It is adviced to also select "Keep Gmail's copy in the inbox"
Step 5 : This service could be used to just alert you as to who sent you an email.
Step 6 : Click on Save Changes and you are good to go!!
