If you live in an area where there are a lot of power problems or incase you dont have a UPS or if you leave your computer on without power security for a long time then you would definetly have an Old Broken SMPS at home just lying around doing nothing. So why not make some use of it.I'm sure this would help you big time especially if you have a power pc which has heating issues.
So the basic idea is to remove the FAN from the SMPS which is obviously a waste if the SMPS is burnt and connect it to the current SMPS' power out. This could be either an extra power out or the floppy disk's power out as floppy disks are a rarity now.Typically the fan would contain 2 cables..one red coloured and the other black coloured. They would need to be connected to either the first two holes of the power out or the second two.The red cable being at the extreme. If you are confused, then this guide should definetly come to some help.I have two extra fans running currently and i think its been put to some really good use.CLICK HERE to view a good tutorial on how exactly to do it with screenshots.
