Downadup Worm Infects Millions Of Computers All Over The World

Now this has made big news throughout the world , not only in websites on the world wide web , but also newspapers and TV news channels , and Why not!!! 9 MILLION computers , now thats a LOT!!Apparently this worm has various names like conficker,downadup and kido . This worm was originated few months back on october 2008. Apparently only about 2.4million machines were affected 4 days back which now sums up to around 9 million .. which is approximately 6.5 million infected machines in just 4 days . Now thats a worm!!!Microsoft has already released a patch called MS08-067 . So firstly make sure that your Antivirus is up to date and that your windows machine is also updated via the microsoft windows update . Here's more on what the worm does :
The worm first searches for a file called services.msc and becomes part of it . Then copies itself on the windows system folder and modifies the registry.Then creates a HTTP server without your knowledge and Removes all recent System Restore Points therefore not allowing you to restore your pc and remove the worm easily.The hacker too is very smart in its creation , it creates random domain names every few minutes like mphtfrxs.net, imctaef.cc, and hcweu.org. making it almost impossible to trace the hacker.

Also the worm spreads itself through pen drives, via the network etc . So you really need to be careful.So ensure that you are protected against this deadly worm and your antivirus and windows updates are up to date!! By the way this virus only affects WINDOWS machines , so all you linux users dont have to worry at all!!!Thats one of the biggest advantages of linux ( ubuntu ) you dont have to worry about a virus . Whereas on windows you always have to be on your toes!!Thats why i say GO UBUNTU!!!9 million windows machines badly infected..Phew!!!
