Recently i had received an email from a friend of mine which came from Fanbox . Something Like A new item for you . It was some kind of application . I thought it was some kind of forward and clicked on Launch The Application . Then started all the problems!!.. Immediately fanbox shoots another email saying Welcome To Fanbox . Now here's where i had a feeling that this is a SPAM site. Reason - I hadnt even signed in for an account before which i get a Welcome To Fanbox Email .
So i did a google search on this website and BINGO!!!Fanbox is completely SPAM . While clicking on the application , i got another window saying enter your email account and password , now DO NOT DO THIS!!!Dont ever enter your email and password there . As fanbox would get all your contacts through that and SPAM all your friends . And if they inturn give their email account info , then their friends would get SPAMMED .By spam i mean tons of email everyday with some nonsense like xxxx has asked you a question . xxxx has sent you an item etc etc.. So you definetly want to stay away from Fanbox .
Here are a few screenshots of the mail i got : -

Have been receiving this sort of e-mail for months, others include Gazzag and what not. For now sticking to Orkut and facebook. looks like nearly all my contacts have fallen for one or the other so called 'social n/w site' [these fraud ones].

An interesting observation about spam:

Recently i logged into a gmail account i had only created and never used. no. of spam=0 [account has been there for over a year and never been de-activated as i log in every 6 mths]
but in my actual id i get over 50-75 spam e-mail a day [thanks to gmail spam filters 100% land in spam]
I have a feeling that these sites like Fanbox sell ur id to other spam sites???
