Airtel,Vodafone Voice SMS Service In India

Airtel and Vodafone recently launched the voice sms service.I'm sure you must have seen the airtel TV commercial where Saif says " I miss you so much, It hurtsssss" . Well its something new and something which is pretty useful i think . I've seen these voice sms ads many times on TV , so i thought why not try it out!! And i did and i must say i'm pretty happy with this service . Voice sms basically combines the calling and the sms part , its like the best of the two . It's something like leaving a message on a friend's answering machine.

I think voice sms can be very useful . Especially if you want to remind somebody about something you could use voice sms . If you dont want to disturb that person by calling him but want to convey an important message , then voice sms can be used . If your a lazy person like me who hates SMSing :-) then this is for you . If you have a long message to convey which is too much to type then voice sms is for you . So voice sms does have a lot of applications and i've started to use this extensively . It costs 75 paise per voice sms . And i think you would be able to give a 1.5min long message . This 75 paise is for a voice message for any phone in India . So i guess it would be cheaper than STD calling rates and sometimes cheaper than Local calling rates as well ( depending on your plan) . So here's how it works for vodafone :


Step 1 : ON your phone dial *abcd where abcd is your friend's mobile number
Step 2 : Then the usual just leave your message after you hear the beep ( just like an answering machine )
Step 3 : After your done with your message just hang up to send the voice sms
Step 4 : Nothing else you need to do , your friend would get a message saying that you have sent him a voice sms. He would have to dial *0* (toll free) to listen to the message . He would also get options like save message,erase message etc.
