The airtel fair usage policy is one of the most talked about news in many Indian forums . I had earlier told you about the Airtel Fair Usage policy and how you could be a part of this protest ( CLICK HERE ) . The protest seems to have had some effect . Airtel has made some new changes to their fair usage policy . Once again kudos to the team at broadbandforum.in for their great initiative and support . So here are the updates :
Update 1 : Airtel Broadband Fair Usage Policy has new data transfer limits
This is good news in one way . Airtel seems to have replied positively but they still havent totally scrapped their policy . So airtel customers are still not satisfied. Here are the new Data transfer limits :
1 mbps till 100GB, 512 kbps beyond 100GB
512 kbps till 100GB, 256 kbps beyond 100GB
384 kbps till 75GB, 256 kbps beyond 75GB
256 kbps till 50GB, 128 kbps beyond 50GB
Update 2 : Airtel has removed Fair Usage Policy for 256Kbps Unlimited Connection
This is good news for users who are on a 256kbps connection . It is believed that they have removed this policy for 256kbps only because according to the policy the speed would then reduce to 128kbps which is not technically " Broadband " as per TRAI policies.
Update 3 : Airtel Fair Usage Policy only for customers who have been using Airtel Broadband for more than 6 months .
Thats supposedly what one customer got as a reply when he posted a question to airtel customer care service . More information on this at the AFUP site
So these are the updates as of now . If you still haven't signed the petition then CLICK HERE to do so.
