Just as expected , after Airtel started the Fair Usage Policy , Reliance and Tata Indicom follow . Its a matter of time i guess when bsnl, mtnl and other ISP's too would announce their Fair Usage policy . Tata Indicom has announced its Fair Usage Policy with their new product the Tata Indicom Photon . Reliance NetConnect too has a fair usage policy . So here are some more details :
RELIANCE NETCONNECT FAIR USAGE POLICY
As you can see in the picture below . Reliance NetConnect has a 10gb Limit. So beyond 10gb you would have to pay Rs 2 per mb.Now almost anyone can cross 10gb soon , so there is really no point in having the Unlimited sign. They should just mention 10gb Limit because thats exactly what normal plans are . For example BSNL's Home 500 has a 2.5gb limit after which you need to pay Rs. 0.80 per mb . So isn't reliance NetConnect similar except that it has a 10gb Limit . And calling that plan Unlimited is stupidity . I dont see how one can call a 10gb limit plan Unlimited.
TATA INDICOM FAIR USAGE POLICY
Tata Indicom has their fair usage policy for their normal broadband connections and for their new product the Tata Indicom Photon
1) For Normal Broadband Connections
The table below shows their Fair Usage Policy . According to which , if you exceed the limit , then Tata Indicom would suggest you to either reduce your usage or upgrade to a higher bandwidth plan. Failing to do so , they have the rights to suspend or terminate your account immediately.
2)For Tata Indicom Photon
The new Tata Indicom Photon which has many people talking about it too has started off with their Fair Usage Policy . The sad part is they provide around 3.1mbps of download speed and they set a 15gb limit . Now how fast do you think 15gb can get over in a 3.1mbps connection? 1 day? 1 week? . According to afup.broadbandforum.in , this limit is different for different regions . But i feel it would be more or less the same for all regions . Here's a table to show their fair usage policy.
