I'm not sure how many of you face this issue but whoever does i'm sure would be really frustrated by it . Firefox had this major bug which seemed to have affected only ubuntu 8.10 machines ( maybe 9.04 also , not sure ) . So its probably a ubuntu bug more than a firefox bug. I have been facing this issue ever since i installed 8.10 . I always thought that this is a noticeable bug and it should be fixed soon . But even after so many months , this still hasnt been fixed . The bug works this way . Whenever your on firefox and you right click on a click to say "open in a new window " or "open in a new tab" etc firefox tends to act really weird . As in , sometimes it would open evolution , sometimes it would open a save webpage window etc . But sometimes it would work fine . But this was really frustrating at times . So if you too face this issue , here's how you fix it :
Here are a few screenshots of the bug acting :
THE FIX
The fix is pretty simple and pretty weird just like the bug :) . The fix is to install a firefox plugin called mouse gestures.Once i installed that i found that the bug completely vanished . So here's how it is done :
Step 1 : Open firefox and go to THIS LINK.
Step 2 : The mouse gestures page should now open , now click on ADD TO FIREFOX
Step 3 : THen go ahead and start installing the plugin
Step 4 : Once done , click on the RESTART option given by firefox
Step 5 : THats it , once firefox restarts you should no longer have this problem!!
