How To Install And Setup Google Desktop

Google Desktop is a software used to find files,information in your computer in a matter or seconds . Its just like google search except instead of searching the web it would search your computer . Google Desktpo first indexes all the files in your machine . This takes a few hours after which you can get any file at any time by just searching . It takes just a second or so to display results. I feel its a very useful search software WAY MORE efficient than the default search in windows or ubuntu . So here's how you setup google desktop :

Google Desktop is pretty easy to setup . First CLICK HERE to download google desktop . Windows users would get an .exe file to download whereas ubuntu users could download the .deb file . They are almost the same when it comes to setting up.

Here are a few screenshots on how to set it up in ubuntu . For windows its the same deal , just double click on the .exe files , you should see similar windows.







Once your done installing Google Desktop , launch it by either looking for it in the START MENU (in windows ) or under Applications->Google Desktop ( in Ubuntu).Then you should see the google desktop icon.

Google Desktop would automatically start indexing the files in your computer . You could pause the index or restart the index whenever you wish. Once all the indexing is done , your search results would be perfect.YOu can always check the index status by right clicking on the google desktop icon and going to index->index status.
