Picasa as you all know is google's photo manager and is available in multiple platforms including ubuntu . The main advantage of picasa software is that you can link it to the picasa web albums which makes sharing and managing shared albums very easy . YOu don't need to login to the picasa website and upload and share photos . With the picasa software everything is made much more simpler , your camera is detected by picasa , you just name your album , hit the share button and enter the email addresses and your good to go. So here's how you setup picasa for ubuntu :
Step 1 : Go to THIS LINK and download the DEB file
Step 2 : Now double click on the DEB file and install the package
Step 3 : Once the package has been installed , launch picasa by going to Applications->Graphics->Picasa
Step 4 : You will see the following screens
Step 5 : This is how the picasa software looks
Step 6 : Picasa would automatically start indexing all the pictures in your pc and arranging them into albums
Step 7 : You can import your picasa web ablums by going to File->Import From Web Albums
Step 8 : Once you add an album you can even share it/upload it directly from the software
The picasa photo viewer too is a very powerful and easy to use software . Over all , the picasa experience is fantastic . The only limit is the 1gb photo storage , although you do have the option to buy additional storage.
