Facebook Now Works With Pidgin Via XMPP Protocol

Here is some really good news for all facebook users who use pidgin . Earlier there used to be a separate facebook plugin for pidgin but that never quite worked well as there were frequent disconnections , authentication errors etc. but now facebook has become compatible with the XMPP protocol which fortunately pidgin supports . We all know how poor the facebook chat performance is on the web browser , so its really nice to use pidgin for this.So all you need to do is configure pidgin to authenticate to facebook and your done. So here's how you do it :

Step 1 : Open Pidgin and click on Accounts->Manage Accounts
Step 2 : Then click on ADD

Step 3 : Now under username type your facebook username which you can find HERE . if you dont have a username , you can create one , your username is NOT your email address.
Step 4 : Enter your password

Step 5 : Now go to the advanced tab and make sure the settings are similar to the screenshot shown below.


Step 6 : Thats it , just enable the account and you should have facebook working!!

This chat protocol is a lot more stable and more convenient than any other way of facebook chat!!
