Ever since i shifted to google chrome as my default web browser in ubuntu after having numberous problems with browsers like firefox and opera in ubuntu, my browsing experience has been fabulous. No more browser hanging , no more lost tabs , no more issues at all!! I can safely say this as i havent yet experienced any major problem with google chrome and google chrome is by far my favorite browser in ubuntu . So here are some more things about google chrome that i like and dislike :
Google chrome firstly is very light on resources . I did a comparison with similar number of tabs open in both chrome and firefox and clearly chrome seemed to use a lot less of memory resources than firefox .
Google has really put in a lot of thought into chrome , for example by default whatever you type in the address bar , if it isnt a link it automatically performs a google search of what you type. I really love this feature , i no longer have to visit google.com and then search.
I love the way the tabs are arranged and the ease of shifting between tabs.I really like the fact that they havent wasted a lot of window space on tabs and menu bars . They have made sure that the webpage is able to open in as much space as possible giving you the best view of a website . I like the homepage i.e. where all the frequently visited websites are shown and even the favourite webpages are displayed. Very systematic and very user friendly..Google chrome has a very good recovery system as well incase your pc crashes or chrome crashes much more better than what firefox or opera does.
Although there are so many wonderful things about google chrome , there are quite a lot of things which arent quite good with google chrome or some things which i miss in google chrome which were present in firefox . Firstly and the most important disadvantage of google chrome is that there is no warning when you close a window . Now this is very frustrating , even though you can recover the tabs easily by checking out the recently closed tabs , it can get very frustrating at times . This is a very stupid thing and i cant think of any reason why google chrome hasn't covered this up . Another disadvantage is that when you have more than 30-40 tabs open in one window , chrome tries to squeeze them all up thereby hiding the beginning part of the webpage title unlike in firefox where a left to right scroll was present.Apart from this i really think google chrome has it to be one of the best browsers for linux systems.
All in all i really like google chrome and it has definitely lived up to my expectations . I was expecting a very good and stable linux version of google chrome and i am really happy with this !!

Here are a few interesting tid bits.
When opening gmail, it has more errors about not connecting than Firefox or Opera. When crashing it doesnt recover the tabs.
I do like how you can zoom to street level in maps though.
You have a clear misunderstanding about the memory. Chrome takees a lot more memory than firefox, you have to sum up all the processes of chrome, whereas firefox is one single process. The sum would turn out far more than what firefox consumes. Firefox has the google search feature from address bar, which you like in chrome.
Wade, you can do the street level in firefox too.
@wadesmart
well thats interesting because i find chrome recovering tab much better than firefox did!!
@naveennelluri
your right , you have to sum up all processes , but even when you do so i am really certain that firefox consumes a lot more.. in one of the previous posts i had even posted a screenshot of firefox consuming more than 1gb of memory space . Chrome comes no where near that with similar number of tabs open!!.
Well i think firefox has issues with opendns where it opens the opendns search by default , i guess thats what was missing..
If Chrome would allow me to override the font used by various websites so I could display with my choice of font; and at my option be able to pin the list of my bookmarks open - I would probably switch.
