Last time i told you how to remote control a ubuntu machine from windows , now here's a small tutorial on how to remote control a ubuntu machine from ubuntu(obviously another ubuntu machine). The steps are pretty similar.

Ubuntu Server Setup-The pc which has to be controlled remotely

Follow the first 5 Steps i.e. "The Setting Up Of Ubuntu" Part from HERE

Ubuntu Client Setup - The pc which is going to be used to control the ubuntu pc
Step 1 : Go to the terminal(Applications->Accessories->Terminal) and type vncviewer 192.168.1.10:0
as usual replace 192.168.1.10 with the ip address of the ubuntu server which you should have got by following the first 5 steps.
Step 2 : A window should pop up similar to this asking you for a password, enter the password you created when you followed the first 5 steps on the server setup.

Step 3 : Then Hit the ENTER button and your in!!!

I can get the password window but when I put in the password, I get "Authentication Failure". I have two machine set up through the router and they can endlessly loop by themselves with: 'vncviewer :1" but can't connect to each other.

I have port 5900 open in the virtual server section of the router.

Any ideas?

have you setup the correct password? remember its case-sensitive.. since its authentication failure its definetly a mistake in password.. your ports seem to be open.. if you still face problems.. try with the router password , just to check.. i have a feeling its goin to the router instead of forwarding it to the pc
