Now with ubuntu 8.10 having released, many ubuntu users are in a bit of confusion.Simply because there are quite a few changes in the GUI and features etc . One drastic change can be found in the network manager, there is no longer System->Administration->Network or System->Administration->Network Tools , instead you would find a System->Prefereces->Network Configuration. And to top it all there is no "Roaming Mode" option actually visible for you.Frankly speaking , i must say the new network manager in ubuntu is pretty difficult, with certain features not working as well.Although they have added some more advanced networking features too, which i must say should be appreciated.Anyways for those of you who liked the old network manager and who want to enable Roaming mode by simply ticking or checking "Enable Roaming Mode" then follow this :

Step 1 : Firstly Go To System->Administration->Software Sources and Check all the options under "Downloadable From the Internet" i.e. main, universe, restricted, multiverse and source code .In short everything :-)

Step 2 : Then click on the close button and it would download and refresh the Package Information
Step 3 : Once thats done, Go to the Terminal(Applications->Accessories->Terminal) and type sudo apt-get install gnome-network-admin
Step 4 : This will install the good old stable network manager, which you are probably used.
Step 5 : Then click on THIS LINK to continue on how to enable roaming mode (Follow till Step 3 , Check "Roaming Mode" instead of unchecking)
