How To Remote Control Your Ubuntu Machine From The Internet Using A Software Client

Last time i had told you on how to remote control your ubuntu machine using your web browser.Incase you wish to use a client software to connect to your ubuntu machine, you can do that too!!Pretty Easy to Setup.Here we go!!

Step 1 : Enable Remote Desktop in your ubuntu machine as SHOWN HERE

Step 2 : You will Need to Open Port 5900 in your router.In case your modem supports Virtual Server then GO HERE otherwise GO HERE

Step 3 : Incase you have dynamic Ip address which changes everytime you reboot your router, then it would be difficult to remember your ip address everytime, an alternative to this is installing no ip client and getting a free domain.CLICK HERE to set that up

CLIENT SETUP - WINDOWS

Step 1 : Download Vnc Viewer Client from HERE
Step 2 : Extract the ZIP file to a directory and open vncviewer.exe

Step 3 : Now enter the free domain name you setup in step 3(or a static ip incase you have one) in the VNC server field as shown in the screenshot and click on the CONNECT button

Step 4: Another window should pop up asking for the password, leave the username field blank and enter the password you entered in your ubuntu machine(In Step 1) and click on the OK button

Step 5 : Thats it , your done!!

CLIENT SETUP-LINUX

Step 1:Go to the terminal(Applications->Accessories->Terminal) and type vncviewer myname.servehttp.com:0 where myname.servehttp.com is your free domain name
Step 2 : A window should pop up similar to this asking you for a password, enter the password you created when you followed the first step on the server setup.
Step 3 : Then Hit the ENTER button and your in!!!
